Poem No 86

A second poem from PAULA PARKER

MORBID

The sun hung

over my hands.

Sorrowful doorsteps led nowhere,

breath struggled for me.

I could find no reason in questions

and sat so, waiting.

Space came and led nowhere,

I hung my head

beneath a sick sun.

Poem No 87

THOMAS McFERRAN'S

DREAMS

I dreamed of her last night.
She looked so happy, and so young.
She smiled, and danced,
the way she always did.
'She really loved to dance'.
And when the dance came to an end
I knew, with words unsaid,
that I must hold her in my arms.

When I awoke,
a sadness filled my heart.
I knew that she would never dance again,
or smile, the way she used to do.
It may well be,
that I will see her dance again,
within another dream.
I cried a lot last night

Poem No 88

Another from PAULA PARKER

LITTLE GIRL

I remember feeling five  years old

sat on the toilet seat

of my grandmother's flat.

My feet couldn't reach the ground,

my legs swung to and fro.

I was happy.

I sat waiting,

my eyes fixed on the faces

on my new Muppet show t-shirt.

It had bright orange sleeves and back,

the font was white,

covered with the faces of Fuzzy Bear,

the highly strung Miss Piggy and

a skinny frog.

The TV talked loudly from the front room.

The women who took care of me watched it,

while eating lots of food.

I wanted nothing more.

All of my needs were full

at least for a few hours

by the companions most like me

listening from my favourite t-shirt.

The Inevitable

If I'm not here tomorrow
I've gone to a better place
I'm not displeased with this one
Or with the human race

It is but life moves on
There's somewhere I've got to be
And I won't be coming back
Which seems strange to me

You've heard me talk of wheels
Those inside one another
It means I get another chance
To meet up with my Brother

Friends that went before me
Will also be there too
Rest assured of one thing
We'll make a lovely crew

When it comes to your turn
And you will have to go
I'll be waiting there for you
Because I love you so

Poem No 90 from Jeffrey Side

I KNOW YOU THOUGH WE'VE NEVER MET

While staying with friends

for a few days

they lent me

your room - they said

you had agreed.

Your books, your letters

and your hat

and cape are there for my

perusal.

The pictures of you

on the wall

show, lover, father,

mother, child.

And sleeping in

your empty bed

I feel I

know you very well.

A stranger's room -

yet not to me.

I know you though

we've never met.
